Devotion 8/15, Our Good Shepherd

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.  John 10:11
Sheep, I am told, are easy prey and totally defenseless against their predators. They constantly need care and monitoring because of this. So, knowing this about sheep, is it any wonder that we are compared to them! Without Christ we are defenseless against satan, we would constantly go astray following whoever came our way. We would most certainly be easy pickings for the devil and end in disaster!
However, when we accept Jesus as Savior, we are protected by the ultimate Protector, the ultimate Shepherd. He not only lays down His life for us, He leads us, guides us, and feeds us as a good Shepherd would do for His sheep. We never have to fear anything in this life for He is always with us, always loving us (Hebrews 13:5).
John 10:14-15
I am the Good Shepherd. I know My own and my own know Me, just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.
My precious Lord and Savior, thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. Thank You for leading me through this life, and for chasing me down and bringing me back when I go astray! You truly are the Good Shepherd and I would be quickly devoured by the devil without You Lord. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on You and to follow wherever You lead. I give You all praise and glory this day, Amen!
Thank you Lord for your amazing grace, mercies and love. So much that you gave your life for me.  Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
