Devotion  8/17, Run Home!

In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.
Acts 3:6
It was a regular day as Peter and John headed to the temple to pray, and then things became really irregular. A lame man asked for money, and Peter offered him something completely different. He offered him Jesus and healing all in the same moment.
Wait—what happened here? The man was healed in the name of Jesus, both spiritually and physically. This might make us uncomfortable, but when God chooses to reveal who he is and what his kingdom is about, he can do powerful things!
We may not always see healings like this, but when we see families restored, freedom from an addiction, and other amazing turnarounds, we can sense the wonder of the new life Jesus offers.
Moments like this show us the power of God’s kingdom. They give us a glimpse of what the Lord came to do and what he will do when he fully restores all things.
God, help me to see the power of the resurrection. Open my eyes and heart to the new things you are doing in, through and around me. Amen.
Lord, sometimes we are asking for something, but you know our needs and want our hearts to desire you. And when we recognize how You answer in maybe a different than expected way, we are so elated and want to run home, to You! Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we live our lives running back to you in all we say and do. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
