Devotion 8/25, Spirit of God

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.
John 4:24
When we worship God in Spirit we are worshiping Him with our hearts through His indwelling Holy Spirit. When we worship through the Spirit we can be assured that we are indeed worshiping Him in truth as the Spirit is a part of the God-head and is therefore perfect and always truthful. No ritual we do with our body can bring true worship to God, He wants our hearts. He has always wanted the heart of mankind since the very beginning in the Garden of Eden. He desires for us to choose to love and serve Him, He desires for us to want to worship Him, He desires our affection.
When we give God our hearts, it’s not a Sunday morning ritual, but a life change as He has our hearts all the time, every day.
The thing that will always amaze me is that He even wants a personal relationship with us! We certainly do not deserve His love, in fact there is nothing we could ever do to deserve His love, it is a gift that only needs to be accepted by us for eternal salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9). There is no work we can do to earn it and no work we can do to keep it, it is ours for the taking by simple faith in Jesus Christ and His bloodshed for the forgiveness of our sins, and it is eternal (John 3:16, Romans 3:25, John 5:24)!
Thank You Father God for sending Jesus to this earth to die for my sins. Thank You for loving me and for saving me eternally! I praise and worship You this day with a thankful heart Abba, Amen!
Spirit of God, have your way. I pray your will be done, Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
