Devotion 9/6, In Christ Alone!
Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”
John 6:68
When Christ asked the question to His twelve disciples if they would dessert Him too, Peter was very quick to say, “to whom would we go?”
This world is forever searching for eternal life. They are trying to figure out how to live longer and better lives on this earth as well. The problem is, most are leaving God out of the equation! The only way to really enjoy this life and have eternal life in heaven is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
John 14:6
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
God Himself said in Matthew 3:17 and Matthew 17:5 that Jesus is His Son and we are to listen to Him.
When God speaks, we had best listen! God created us and has every right to expect us to obey Him, just as any good father expects his child to listen to and obey his instruction.
So, who are you trusting for eternal life? If it is not Jesus Christ then an eternity in hell awaits you when you leave this earth. I know it is not popular to say this, but God is not out to win a popularity contest with anyone. He is showing us the way to eternal life, we can either accept His way which is through Christ, or we can reject His way and spend eternity in pain and torment. He desires that we be with Him in heaven ( 2 Peter 3:9), but He will not force anyone for He wants our hearts
Almighty God, thank you for making Jesus so accessible to me. Jesus helps me see the full extent of your love. Jesus helps me understand your message about wanting to lovingly redeem me and make me your own. I want to always come to Jesus for truth, grace, refreshment, and hope. There is no one I want to be my Lord except my crucified Savior, Jesus, who proved his love for me. Today, Father, gently confront me in areas where I have yet to yield entirely to your Son’s lordship. In the precious name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Precious Jesus, you are Lord. In you alone my hope is found. I pray your Holy Spirit dwell in me, that I may share your grace, mercies and love with others and that I may serve you in all I say and do today. In your name I pray, Amen.
