Devotion 9/8, Seek Wisdom
Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Psalm 90:12
“Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” In other words, “Lord, I only have a brief time on this earth, help me to live my life in obedience to You, so that I may do those things that are wise and good in Your sight.”
As we age it seems like the years start to fly by. So how do we spend each year that God has given us? Do we spend them in self-seeking ways, or God-seeking ways?
As we mature in Christ we should be gaining more and more true wisdom, that only comes from God. When we read and meditate on His Word each day, and apply what we have learned to our everyday lives, then we are on the road to obtaining true and lasting Godly wisdom.
When we ask God for wisdom He will grant it to us, for this is the position He wants us in before Him. When we ask for His wisdom we are in essence telling Him that we acknowledge He is the source of true wisdom, not we ourselves. He is all-knowing, not us, He is indeed God!
James 1:5
Thank You Father God for Your wisdom. Help me to always seek You in all that I do and say in this life, and to live a life that is pleasing in Your sight. I give You all praise this day, Amen!
Holy and Almighty God, King of the Ages, you alone live in complete wisdom, justice, and grace. Please help me to know what time it is in my life and the role you want me to play at this stage of my journey. I want my life to be lived glorifying you and not wasting time. In Jesus’ precious name, I pray. Amen.
