Devotion 10/1, Jesus is coming soon!
The inhabitants of one city will go to another and say, “Let us go at once to entreat the Lord and seek the Lord Almighty. I myself am going.”
Zechariah 8:21
Just as the prophet Zechariah tells of people determined to go to Jerusalem to seek God at the second coming of Christ, there are people seeking Him today! Lord help us to be determined to bring people to Christ, to share with them the rest and joy that is theirs if only they would accept Him as Lord and Savior.
This reminds me a what Jesus spoke in Matthew:
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
To “come” to Christ means to believe (Acts 16:31), to receive (John 1:12), and to accept the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9).
When we come to Christ, He and He alone is the object of our faith. It is not a church or religion. Salvation is in the Person of Jesus Christ, when we placed our faith in Him we are saved to the utmost. It is through the shed blood of Christ we are made righteous before God.
As believers, we know Jesus has come, died, and was raised from the dead. We know Jesus is returning with salvation for all who truly know and follow him. Let’s ask others to join us to go and share the great celebration of grace and salvation at Jesus’ return!
Loving Father, I seek your presence daily in my life. I would be lost and confused without your guidance, love, holiness, and truth. Knowing that my destiny is with you, I look forward to seeing you face-to-face as your child. Please lead me to those who do not know you but are seeking you. Give me eyes to see them, ears to hear their cry, and wisdom to know how to share your grace. Use me to prepare them to meet you at the great Day of Redemption coming with your Son. In the name of Christ Jesus, my Lord. Amen.
