Devotion 10/4, Joy Unspeakable
Though you have not seen [the resurrected Lord Jesus], you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9
Trusting in Christ fills us with an “inexpressible and glorious joy”, yes indeed it does! As children of God, our joy is not dependent on our circumstances in life. Our happiness may be dependent on our circumstances, but never our joy, that is deep seated in us by God Himself, no one can separate that joy from us. We have uninterrupted and eternal contact with the fountain of all pure joy!
Mac Donald writes, “It is no more possible to rob a child of God of his joy than it is to unseat Christ from His place in glory. The two stand together.”
So very true!
It is so very comforting to know that no one can ever steal my salvation from me, it was God given and He has said that it is eternal, God never lies (Numbers 23:19)!
Thank You Father God for sending Jesus to bleed and die for my sins. Thank You for giving me eternal life that is received through simple child-like faith in Christ, and thank You most especially for loving me! I give You all glory and honor this day, in Jesus’ name, Amen
What joy fills my heart, Father, when I anticipate what it will be like to be in your presence — to have you wipe each tear from my eyes and introduce me again to those I love and those I’ve known only by reputation. Please never let me outlive that sense of anticipation and never let that hope dim in my heart, no matter what else may happen here. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
