Devotion 10/7, work hard, for Him

Laziness brings on deep sleep, and the shiftless man goes hungry.
Proverbs 19:15
Colossians 3:23,
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men…
My parents knew that work is good for you, God tells us this in His Word numerous times, (over 100 verses)! He expects His children to work if we are physically capable of doing so. It is not some punishment from God, for even before Adam and Eve sinned God instructed Adam to work the garden and keep it. Work is not only good for our spirits it is good for our bodies. If one sits around all day reading, playing video games, or watching tv, physical problems will soon come about! Our bodies were made to move.
And of course there is the financial end to working, God expects us to work for our food, clothing and shelter (2 Thessalonians 3:11-12). And also so that we may share with those who cannot work and are in need (Hebrews 13:6).
So, as you go to work, put a smile on your face and remember who you represent. Be thankful that you can go to work and that God has given you health to do so. Some cannot and would love to be able to move about or live without pain. Be thankful for the job God has blessed you with and the people around you that you can witness to for Christ!
God over all things, please teach me the balance between work and rest. Help me to balance both so that I can bring you honor and display your gracious rule over my heart and my time. Help me be productive, hard-working, and honorable. In the name of Jesus, I ask this. Amen.
This is my prayer for you

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
