Devotion 11/8, Only through Jesus

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
James 1:12
James is pronouncing blessing on those children of God who go through their trials in life, standing against the temptation to doubt God, without complaining bitterly to all who will listen, and without indulging in self-pity.
Let’s face it trials in life are not fun! But when we recognize that they are allowed from the hand of God we should understand that there is a reason for them. God has something we are to learn in the process of going through the trouble. He has promised to never leave us (Hebrews 13:5), and that all things will work out for our good when we love God and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). So, we know that He will give us the strength we need to come through the trail, praising Him in the midst of, and on the other side of it!
Gracious God, thank you for promising me the victor’s crown of life. Please empower me to persevere through trials with the strength of your Holy Spirit to encourage, strengthen, and comfort me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
