Devotion 12/10, The Light

Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.
John 3:20-21
Many choose to remain living in their sins. As Christians in this dark and sinful world, our presence can cause the unsaved to hate us as we have the Holy Spirit of God dwelling on the inside of us. Even though we are not perfect, as Christ is, His very presence in us convicts them. We are “lights” for Christ, and that exposes their sinful ways making them very uncomfortable to continue sinning in our presence. That is why Jesus warned His disciples that the world hated Him and it would hate them as well.
What’s the power behind your life? One straightforward way to find out is to come to Jesus and ask him to search you and reveal anything spiritually unhealthy or unholy in you.
Thank you, God, for shining your light into my heart through your Son, the Light of the world. Please gently reveal to me the areas of my weakness, sinfulness, duplicity, and deception. I want to live purely before you and purely for you. I humbly request this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
