Devotion 12/11, Equally Yoked

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
2 Corinthians 6:14
God wants our lives to be centered on Him and they simply cannot be if we are partnering with the unsaved. This does not mean that we are to have nothing at all to do with the unsaved for Jesus told us to go into the world and preach the gospel (Mark 6:15). But we are never to enter into close relationship with unbelievers. To do so is being unequally yoked, like a donkey and an ox yoked together, they would break each other down. No matter how well we think it will turn out, God says “no” to it so we know to stay clear of that situation.
Father, I know your will is not arbitrary. I know you want what is best for us. So please give us wisdom as we choose our partners and closest friends. Help us as believers to help each other live for you and share your blessings and grace with those who are not believers. Please use us to influence others to come to know you, your mercy, and your salvation more thoroughly, and also have the courage to do so before entering into lasting and significant relationships with them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
