Devotion 12/21, Another promise kept

[As the prophet Micah has written:] “But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.”
Matthew 2:6
King Herod assembled the Jewish leaders to find out just where this Christ was to be born. The Scribes were lay experts in the Law of Moses. They preserved and taught the Law and served as judges in the Sanhedrin. When asked by the king of the Christ child’s birthplace they quickly quoted Micah 5:2 which identified Bethlehem of Judea.
The human birth of the promised Messiah would occur in the city of Israel’s great King, poet, and shepherd, Bethlehem. This was God’s plan, even though the town was otherwise of little significance or size. Jesus being born in Bethlehem is also a reminder that God keeps his word and fulfills his promises to bless and preserve his people and bring his Messiah.
John 1:12, “Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God”.
In this season, is there anything more important that making room in your heart for God?
Thank You Father God for making Your Word so very clear on how our sins are forgiven. Thank You for sending Jesus to pay my sin debt so that I can spend eternity in heaven with You. I give You thanks, glory and praise, Amen!

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
