Devotion 12/25, The most wondrous gift of all

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16
Notice how it says that God so ‘loved’ the world, not that He owed the world. God did not owe us anything at all. We had a sin debt to Him that we were totally incapable of paying, we were headed to an eternity in the torments of hell and separated from God forever.
But God so LOVED us! He chose to show mercy, grace, love, and compassion on us by sending Jesus Christ, His one and only Son, to come to this earth and shed His precious, pure, and innocent blood on the cross at Calvary for our sins. There is only one payment for sins that God will accept, and that is the blood of His Son (John 14:6, Romans 5:8-9, 1 Peter 1:18-19).
Of all your gifts, loving Father, we recognize that none can compare to Jesus, the Son. You are worthy of praise simply because of who you are: God Most High! You are worthy of praise because of all you have done: God, Creator, and Provider. You are worthy of praise because of your mighty acts, God Almighty. Most of all, you are worthy of my heart, soul, mind, and strength because of the love you demonstrated in Jesus, who was God with us and among us and one of us to save us. Thank you for this most wondrous gift of all! In Jesus’ name, I thank you and praise you. Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
