Devotion 3/5, Who or What is our God?

Where then are the gods you made for yourselves? Let them come if they can save you when you are in trouble! For you have as many gods as you have towns, O Judah.   Jeremiah 2:28

How many times do we see this happen today?! We are surrounded by people in our culture who are placing their trust in everything under the sun. They will not, however, trust or turn to the God who created them, nor will they listen to His Word the Bible.

Even as Christians we sometimes place other things such as power, money, career, loved ones in our life, above God.

How many times do we try to take care of our problems on our own instead of laying them at the feet of Jesus? How many times do we make important decisions without talking to God about it first, asking His will and waiting for His answer?

No being will ever love us as God does. No being has the power to save us as God does. Knowing this, why would we even consider not placing Him at the center of our lives, why would we even consider trusting in anything or anyone else to save us! He has a good plan for us (Jeremiah 29:11), and He will always work things out for our good when we purpose to live for Him (Romans 8:28).

We are convicted, Heavenly Father, of how many false gods crowd into our world and seek our attention. Please bless us and empower us with undivided hearts. We want our hearts to be free from anything false that might distort or diminish our loyalty to you and you alone as God. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.   https://youtu.be/gNoehJ3PeBs?feature=shared

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
