Devotion 3/19, You are Redeemed!
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”
Galatians 3:13
To redeem and deliver mankind from the curse of death, all our sins were placed on Christ and He took that sin on the cross for each and everyone of us. It is always important to note that Christ never sinned, our sin was placed on Him. As His precious pure, and innocent blood flowed down that cross atonement was made for you and me!
Had Christ not come and shed His blood for us, we could never be holy enough for heaven (John 14:6). Mankind cannot keep the law of God (Galatians 3:11), so God sent the sinless Jesus to come and make a way for us to become His children through the sacrifice of His one and only Son, Jesus the Christ!
Paul is reminding the church at Galatia of this fact as they had come under some false teachings that had them thinking they needed to keep the commandments of God in addition to placing their faith in Christ for salvation. Isn’t that just like satan to twist what God has said and pull people away from the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 11:14)? Jesus fulfilled the law and therefore could go to that cross and die as the perfect sacrifice for sin in our place! Aren’t you glad that we have such a loving, merciful God who made a way for us to be redeemed to Him through His own beloved Son?
Now comes the big question, have you placed your trust in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins? You cannot be good enough on your own to be fit for God (Romans 3:10), it is only through Jesus that God will accept you into heaven when you die. When God looks at you through the blood of Christ He does not see your sin any longer because that wonderful, pure blood has cleansed you from all unrighteousness (Hebrews 8:12)! It makes you clean before our holy God!Now comes the big question, have you placed your trust in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins? Father, we can’t pretend to fathom your ways and why you would require such a horrific sacrifice of yourself to redeem us. Precious Savior, we can’t imagine what it was like to hang before a mob carrying the sin of the whole world — and especially our sins. All we know to do is to ask the Holy Spirit to help our words convey the gratitude of our hearts as he intercedes for us with you now. Thank you! Praise you! We are redeemed! Hallelujah! Amen.
