Devotion 4/17, Nearer my God

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:7-8
James always packs a lot of truth into short messages. I’ll focus on the core of this call to holiness: “Submit yourselves, then, to God. … Come near to God…” Draw our hearts closer to God. When we come into God’s presence and draw close to Him, we know our thoughts and actions will be seen for what they are in the light of his holiness, righteousness, and grace. We know that the devil is forced out of our presence by the radiance of our Father’s holy and righteous character. Seek God — his righteous character, gracious compassion, and faithful love and justice. Draw near to God, yearning to be in His presence so we can be more like Him in our daily lives. Let’s ask God to cleanse us, make us holy, and wholly his!
Father, thank you for your love, mercy, grace and forgiveness. Dear Father, help me as I yearn to draw closer to you, know you better, and reflect you more fully in my daily life. Purify my heart of any deceitful, secret sin. Cleanse my heart and empower me to exemplify your grace and holiness in all I might say or do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
