Devotion 4/29, Serve the believer and the non-believer for Him
My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you… Galatians 4:19
The church at Galatia had been experiencing false teachers that had come among them and Paul was of course distressed to hear this. The apostle had started this church and had led many of the people in it to Christ. He had labored with them and helped them to be a close knit body of believers before he moved on. Now, he is telling them that he is again “in the pains of childbirth” to bring them back to the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ that he had taught them years prior. He is acting as a parent, so to speak, and bringing them to account for their wrong actions.
It is so important to lead individuals to the Lord Jesus, who can save their souls from hell, but it is also important for we who lead them to the Savior to not abandon them after they have accepted Christ! They need a strong, well grounded in Scripture network of Christians to come along beside them for a while and help them to make wise choices that are pleasing to God according to His Word. This is showing them the kind of servant love that Jesus Himself spoke of and taught so many times throughout His ministry here on earth.
Precious Lord Jesus, thank You for coming to this earth and dying for our sins. Thank You for the people that You placed in my life that lead and guide me in Your ways by always pointing me to God and His Word. Make me your servant that will support the believer and invite the non-believer into your family of faith. I give You all praise, honor, and glory this day, Amen!
When those you are serving are struggling, whether believer or non-believer, you can always share this song and remind them “believe”!
