Devotion 5/7, The More I Seek You

But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Deuteronomy 4:29
This verse is one of many in Scripture where God is asking Israel to turn back to Him and away from idols. He wants to restore blessings to them but will not until they stop living in rebellion to Him. Isaiah 55:6
Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.
The very same is true for us as God’s children through Jesus Christ today! Many times in Scripture we are told to “seek God”. God loves us so and desires to have a close and intimate relationship with us, He did not shed His blood for our sins so we could have a “religion” for He has no desire for us to have a religion, but to have in Him. The Pharisees in Jesus’ time were very religious and Jesus made it extremely clear that they were not children of God.
God, as always, wants our hearts, not just our actions! Our good deeds mean absolutely nothing to God if our hearts are not in tune with Him.
Heavenly Father, ever near with your loving presence, please bless us with a deeper and more personal knowledge and experience of you in our lives. We want to know you even as we are known by you (1 Corinthians 13:12; 1 John 3:1-3). Until the day we can see you face to face in glory, please draw us closer and closer to you as you make your presence known in our lives. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
