Devotion 5/14, Gentle Shepherd

[The Lord’s Messiah] will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. And he will be their peace.   Micah 5:4
This portion of Scripture is telling of the way Christ will Shepherd the nation of Israel after His second coming. But this is echoed by Christ Himself many times throughout the New Testament. Jesus is our Good Shepherd and all those who place their faith in Him now have His protection. It doesn’t mean that nothing bad will ever happen to us in this life. We live in a sinful and fallen world, but nothing can happen to us that God doesn’t allow for we are His children and the sheep of His pasture.
Psalm 95:7
For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Today if you would hear His voice.
This world seems to be spinning out of control at times, doesn’t it? But God is still on His throne and Jesus is still our Savior, nothing will ever change that! Satan can work through mankind here on earth and get them to do his despicable acts for him, but God will only let him go so far and then Christ will return and set all things straight that are so crooked (Luke 3:5).
Until that time happens, we have the very best care we could ever have for we are cared for by the Good Shepherd who lays His life down for the sheep (John 10:11).
Our Lord God, thank you for sending Jesus as the sacrificial lamb for my sins and the Good Shepherd of your sheep. Thank you for the promise of rest, protection, and peace that are part of my present and my future with your Son as my shepherd. In his name, I pray. Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
