Devotion 5/26, His Goodness

Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you.  1 Thessalonians 5:12
Clearly the elders at the church in Thessalonia had felt the need to admonish some of the church attendees. And it probably did not go too well as people generally do not like it when their ungodly behavior has to be addressed.
We should never follow anyone who advises us to do something that is not in line with God’s Word. God’s Word is the final authority for every child of God, period. If there is a bad elder or leader, God will see to it that they are exposed.
So, the next time you see one of the elders from your church, just thank them for their faithfulness to God in serving your church, or send them a note or text. And most importantly pray for them! Everyone needs some encouragement from time to time (1Corinthians 16:18)! God will bless you for your effort to do so!
Lord, thank You for placing godly people in leadership in our churches. Help them to continue to be a vessel for You and what You desire for each church! Thank You Father for sending Jesus to die for my sins with His precious blood on the cross at Calvary. Our purpose is to live for You each day for Your glory. Thank you for your blessings, grace, mercies, love and goodness. Amen!

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
