Devotion 6/9, Focus on Him and Humble Yourself
But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.
Genesis 6:8
Why did Noah find favor in God’s eyes, because he obeyed God and refused to fall into the sinful lifestyles and practices of those around him each day. His love for and focus on God alone is what hallmarked his existence. Noah was mocked for obeying God, but he did not let that sway him away from God’s will for him. His heart and mind were exactly where God wanted them to be, fixed on his Father God!
The teaching of the world is that permissiveness is the road to contentment and fulfillment. We are told from every form of media to deny ourselves nothing, and that a life of purity is an archaic way of thinking. But the psalmist sets the record straight.
Do you want to be truly blessed? Then steer clear of the lifestyles of the ungodly. Notice he does not say to stay away from the ungodly, someone needs to tell and show them the love of Jesus and their need of a Savior. He tells us not to “walk in the counsel of the wicked”, do not become partners with them in their ungodly lifestyles.
One needs a godly network of friends that can be there to support us and hold us accountable when interacting with the unsaved on a regular basis.
Thank You Father God for Your flawless Word. Help me to take it in daily so that my life will be a reflection of You to an unsaved world that desperately needs Your saving grace. I give You all praise, honor and glory this day, Amen!
