Devotion 6/24, I will Follow You, Lord
David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel — I will celebrate before the Lord.”. 2 Samuel 6:21
David certainly knew how great God is, he knew that there was no other true God than Him. God had displayed His sovereignty to the people of Israel many, many times. In chapter 7 we see God’s covenant (promise) with David. David who came from an obscure family, would one day be the greatest king of Israel! When God is for you, who indeed can be against Him (Romans 8:31). David was the least likely person in Israel to ever even be considered to be “kingly”, but you see God looks at the heart of a person, and when He looked at David’s heart, He saw what He was looking for to be king of His chosen people. In Acts 13:22 God calls David a “man after His own heart.” David is definite proof that it matters not what people think of you, it matters only what God thinks of you!
God can do great things through us when we get out of the way and let Him take control of our lives! When we say, “Yes Lord” to His calling and then obediently go down the paths that He leads.
Thank You Father God for Your love and care for me. Help me to be in tune with You, and to follow where You lead. I give You all praise, honor and glory, my Lord and my God, Amen!
