Devotion 7/18, When We Seek Him
“I [Darius King of Persia] issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end. He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”. Daniel 6:26-27
As God’s children we are to have a reverential fear towards God. This is not that we are to be “afraid” of God, but it is speaking of the highest respect that we are to have and show to Him.
God created us to serve, worship, and love Him. He promises that we will be blessed and have protection when we take our refuge in Him!
To serve the Lord simply means to seek His will each day and then follow it. Many times this will mean abandoning our own will. God always knows what is the very best for us because He made us. He knit us together in our mother’s womb with love and care. Surely we can serve our Father God with devotion and with a joyful attitude after knowing this! The world already knows so much sadness and gloom, but we who know Christ have the joyous light of Him inside us through the Holy Spirit. We can be an example to the unsaved around us each day of the true and lasting joy that only comes through Jesus Christ in us!
Thank Lord for Your perfect love for and faithfulness to me. I do not deserve Your love Father but I am so thankful that you do. Help me to serve you with great enthusiasm each day and to show the joy of Christ to all I meet, Amen!
