Devotion 8/5, Thank you Jesus

But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.   Romans 7:6
Among the many wonderful things that happened when we accepted Christ as Savior is that we were delivered from the Law. Since Christ died as our representative, we died with Him. His death fulfilled the Law and made those who trust Him as Savior right before our Holy and Righteous God. We are free from the Law and from it’s inevitable curse! Christ fulfilled the Law for us because we never could.
Now, having been set free, we can serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the Law. Our service to God is now motivated by our love for Him, not because we are afraid of Him. It is a service based from freedom, not bondage to the letter of the Law. Now we have a joyful outpouring of love and service to our Lord God that comes straight from our hearts because we are aware of what we have been saved from!
Precious Lord, thank You for coming to this wicked world, that You knew would hate and abuse You, out of Your love for us. Thank You for paying our sin debt to God and making us right before Him. Help us to live each day for You and to be worthy examples of Your love and likeness to all that we meet. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
