Devotion 8/12, May His Ancient Words Impart, Our Only Hope!
O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure.
Psalm 7:9
When we look around at what is taking place in our world today we can certainly say this plea with David, can’t we?
Our world will soon see His plan unfold, as it is written, meantime however, our righteous God, who knows hearts and minds, thoughts and motives, will surely protect His blood bought children! He is our Protector, Sustainer, and Defender. Nothing touches our lives but what He allows. This is not to say that we will never suffer any hardships or tragedies, for we will because such is common to this fallen world that we live in. Our peace comes from knowing that if God allow us to go through these things He will be there to give us peace and endurance through the trials of life because we know from His Word that He will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).
The next time you watch the news and are troubled about the current events, remember who your Father is, the King of the universe! As His children through faith in Christ we stand righteous before Him and are completely secure in Him because of Christ’s work on the cross.
Lord and Father of all peoples, please forgive us for anything we have done to condone or accept the violence entrenched in many parts of our world and cultures today. Please bring the evil and hostile eruptions of violence in our day to an end. Frustrate and defeat those who use violence to intimidate, enslave, and destroy people who are precious to you. May your people be an example of righteous, compassionate, and non-violent living. Please give strength and protection to all who face the threat of violence because of their faith. In Jesus’ name, we plead for the redemption of our world. Amen.
Our only hope is through Him and His Word.
