Devotion 8/13, He Will Never Leave or Forsake His People!
[Job declared,] “Therefore I will not keep silent; I will speak out in the anguish of my spirit, I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.”
Job 7:11
Job was suffering on every level of his life. He was in pain from various physical problems, his friends had failed him, he had financial loss and death of his children. Even his wife had told him to curse God and die (Job 2:9). Then we arrive at our verse for today and Job is at his breaking point, he can no longer remain silent and he pours out his heart to God.
While we may not have had the tragedies in our lives that Job had, we have all gone through some form of hardship in life, those times when it feels as though God is not hearing our pleas because our suffering remains. But rest assured that God is right there in the middle of our troubles and even though it seems as though He does not care because our problems remain, He will perfect all that concerns us (Psalm 138:8) in His timing, not ours.
If you read the entire account of Job’s life you will see that God restored to him even more than what he had lost! Job remained faithful to God in the midst of his tragedies and God showed him and all those around him that God loved Job!
Father, thank you for listening to my words and my heart. Thank you for providing the Holy Spirit and my Savior, Jesus, as my intercessors before your throne. Thank you for wanting me in your presence even when my heart is full of conflict, anger, and pain. Thank you for loving me through my brokenness and strife. Most of all, thank you for your promise to deliver me through times of agony and to bring me home to you to share in your glory. In Jesus’ name, I yearn to experience your deliverance. Amen.
