Devotion 8/16, No Longer Slaves to Fear And Sin

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
Romans 8:15
Philip Ware: “God is so holy, so mighty, so awesome, and yet he bids us to call him “Abba Father.” Abba is a term of endearment, familiarity, dependency, and love used by Jewish toddlers to address their fathers. Many Jewish families continue to call the father in the family “abba,” no matter their age or their abba’s age! Through the incredible gift of his Holy Spirit to us, God has given us this ultimate gift of availability, love, companionship, protection, and mighty care. The eternal and almighty God invites us to approach him as our “Abba Father.” Our God, our Lord, the Sovereign ruler of heaven’s armies and Creator of the universe, is also our Abba!”
Have you thanked God today for opening your eyes to the truth of Christ and for making you His child through the redemption of Jesus’ blood shed? Oh, we have so very much to be thankful for my brothers and sisters in Christ! We are no longer slaves to fear and sin, we are free in Christ to live lives of righteousness through His Holy Spirit that we received upon salvation! Praise God!
I love these lyrics!  Thank you, Abba!

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
