Devotion 8/28, How Great Thou Art

[King David went in and sat before the Lord, and he said:] “How great you are, O Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears.”
2 Samuel 7:22
David was the least likely person in Israel to ever even be considered to be “kingly”, but you see God looks at the heart of a person, and when He looked at David’s heart He saw what He was looking for to be king of His chosen people. In Acts 13:22 God calls David a “man after His own heart.” David is definite proof that it matters not what people think of you, it matters only what God thinks of you!
God still uses people today as He did David so many years ago. He is still looking for hearts that are yielded to Him, people who are willing to step out in faith and obey and follow His leading in life to further the gospel of Jesus Christ, His one and only Son. When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior we become a child of God. When we do as Romans12:1-2 says by being living sacrifices to God, and live lives that are not conforming to the sins of this world, we are well on the road to becoming spiritually mature by surrendering our own imperfect will to His perfect one. Then we have a heart that God can use in a mighty way to do glorious things for Him while we walk this path through life!
Oh, that we would be like David in our desire to live a life that is pleasing to God. David failed many times in his life but he humbled himself before God and genuinely repented of his sins. Therefore, God used him in a mighty way, He knew that there was a love for Him in David’s heart!
God can do great things through us too when we get out of the way and let Him take control of our lives! When we say, “Yes Lord” to His calling and then obediently go down the paths that He leads.
Father of all and Provider and Protector of your people, please give me a sense of courageous awe at your power and a sense of reverential wonder at your faithfulness. There is no other being or power like you, for you alone are God. I praise you for your glory, blessings, mercies and grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
