Devotion 9/1, He is Holy Forever!
Jesus then began to teach his disciples that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again. Mark 8:31
Can’t you hear the tenderness in our Savior’s voice as He tries to get the twelve to grasp the fact that He will not be with them bodily for much longer? He knows how devastating this is going to be for them, He knows all the persecution that will come to them for being His disciples, and He knows that they will have doubts about Him.
They still did not understand what He meant but were afraid to ask Him about it.
I can so sympathize with the disciples. How many times do things happen in my life that I just don’t understand, yet I know full well that it is God’s will! I am sorry to say that I have doubted God at times too, I have been upset that His plan is not more like my plan for me. God, however, loves us through our concerns and fears and He tenderly speaks to us through His Holy Spirit with love and compassion. He guides us gently along His path never leaving us or forsaking us for one minute. What a faithful Lord God we have! That He would love such an undeserving people as we are by sending His own beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to this world to shed His blood on the cross for the redemption of our souls. How could we ever praise and thank Him enough for His steadfast love for us!
Father, thank You for sending Jesus to this world to sacrifice Himself so that I can spend eternity in heaven with You! Thank You for the comfort of Your Holy Spirit that indwells me and for Your Word that I can read for instruction and guidance. Help me to always seek Your perfect will for me Father as I go through each day knowing that one day I will be with You forever. I give You all honor and glory, Amen!
