Devotion 9/18, Christ is the only way, the only truth and the only life

But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to [those who served as priests in Old Testament times, as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, and it is founded on better promises.  Hebrews 8:6
The reason that Christ’s ministry is far better than that of the priests is that He offered Himself as a blood sacrifice, they could only offer animals. Jesus put sin away with His blood, the animals blood merely covered sin for a time. The perfect cleansing by His blood is eternal not temporary. He opened a way for us to enter into the very presence of God, not just to stand at a distance from Him!
Jesus is also the Mediator between us and God. We do not need a priest to go to God for us. As it says in 1 Timothy 2:5-
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus.
John 14:6 reads…Jesus answered: “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
No mere man can be the go-between for us to God, ONLY Jesus Christ is qualified for this position.
Thank you, Almighty God, for sending Jesus to fulfill the promises and carry out the plan you set in place so long ago and revealed by your prophets. I thank you and praise you in the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord, the guarantor of a better covenant and hope. Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
