Devotion 10/11, Is my story “to God be the Glory”?
We want to avoid any criticism of the way we administer this liberal gift [of money you have given for the Christians in Jerusalem]. For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men. 2 Corinthians 8:20-21
We are in good company when the unsaved mock us for living for Christ. Jesus endured persecution while He was on this earth as well, much more so than we will ever go through!
This does not give us license to act arrogantly towards anyone. We are never to look down on those who do not yet know Christ, that would be acting in pride and that is blatantly against God’s Word.
So, can the unsaved look at your life and mine and see the fingerprints of God on it? If you are like me, sometimes they can and sometimes they can’t! Lord help us to live consistently for Christ. There will be times that we mess up, but we can always go to God in repentance (1John 1:9) and He is there with open arms giving us His love, mercy and grace every time because we are His blood bought children and He loves us unconditionally! Have you thanked Him today for His never-ending love for you?
Father, thank You for loving me. Thank You for opening my eyes to the truth of Jesus Christ and for making me Your child through faith in Jesus! I desire to live my life completely sold out to You. Help me to be a worthy reflection of Christ in all I say and do this day, for Your glory, Amen!
