Devotion 11/7, Precious Lord

Some in the questioning crowd, said the following about Jesus: “But we know where this man is from; when the Christ comes, no one will know where he is from.”  John 7:27
The ones who did not believe Jesus thought they knew where He came from, Nazareth. They knew His mother Mary and supposed that His father was Joseph.
It was commonly thought by the Jews in this time that the Messiah would come upon humanity quickly and mysteriously, with great pomp and circumstance around Him. They were not looking for Him to come as a baby born in a manger in Bethlehem. They should have known that He would be born in Bethlehem from the Old Testament, but it appears they were quite clueless of the details surrounding the coming of their own Messiah!
Jesus goes on to explain in the next two verses that yes they know Him and think they know where He is truly from but that He is not there on His own authority but God’s, for He had sent Him. He then tells the crowd that they do not know God, for if they did they would know that Jesus came from God.
I just love how Jesus speaks, don’t you? He just has a way of silencing those who try to trap Him. Oh, what He said surely incensed some of the Jews who observed Him for He is claiming to be their Messiah. But some also believed Him and were saved!
So, how about You? Do you believe the words of Jesus Christ? Have you trusted Him to be your Lord and Savior? If not, please do so today! He loves us and gave His life for your sins and mine.
Precious Lord, thank You for coming to this world and laying Your life down at the cross of Calvary for my sins. Thank You for loving me and wanting a personal relationship with me, my Savior. I desire to please You all the days of my life! I give You all praise, honor, and glory this day, Amen!

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
