Devotion 12/4, Prepare Our Hearts, Lord

He also made the stars.  Genesis 1:16
In Genesis 1 today, the sun and moon get most of the attention. But we are told that God “also made the stars.” It’s as if God poked trillions of little holes in the backdrop of the night sky. Even on the darkest nights, when the moon is nowhere in sight, the stars remind us that God’s light is still present. The darkness will not overcome God’s light.
We ong for God’s actions in our lives to be as bright as the sun, as clear as a full moon, or as awe-inspiring as a shooting star. But we often overlook God’s faithful presence in the background. The stars remind us that God is always there.
This can also remind us that Jesus entered the world on an otherwise ordinary night and that God even used a star to announce his birth. Amazing! There is hope in the darkness because God “also made the stars.”
Thank you for creating stars, Lord. We need their constant reminder that you are still at work even on the darkest of nights. Thank you for the awesomeness of creation and the constant reminders you are always at work, always with us. Make room in our hearts for Advent and we give thanks for Your constant presence in our lives. Thank you Lord, Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
