Devotion 12/5, One Body
Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:4-5
We all have different yet equally important functions within His body. Some of us are called to teach, preach, serve, encourage, lead…etc.(vs.6-8), when one of the members is “hurt” or not functioning as they should, the entire body of believers feels it. No one persons gift is more important than the others and whatever gift God has given us is to be used for His glory, not our own. All the power to exercise these gifts comes from God through the Holy Spirit within us anyway, so we have absolutely nothing to feel proud or arrogant about.
We are interdependent upon each other for the proper functioning of the body of believers. No gift is unnecessary or self-sufficient.
We have a responsibility before God to use the gifts He has given us in a worthwhile manner. No one is able to do all that is needed to further the gospel in this world by themselves. We need each other and if we function as Christ meant us to it is a glorious thing to behold, it is a powerful witness to the yet unsaved, and it pleases Father God immensely!
Thank You Jesus for dying for my sins, help me to use the gifts that I have been given to bring honor and glory to You in all I say and do. I give You all praise and honor this day. Thank you for your love, grace, mercies and blessings, Amen!
