Devotion 12/21, How strong is your faith in God’s Word?
All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth.
Hebrews 11:13
These hero’s of faith would not be persuaded by this world to lose faith and trust in God and His promises to them. So sure were they that all God’s promises would come to be, they acted as if they had already taken place. Their vision of these promises was telescopic at this point, but the promises were brought so near to them through their faith that they were waving at them in joyful anticipation!
We can get so weighed down at times in the chaos and muddle of this world, that we get our eyes off of God and His many promises to us in His Word. If we keep our focus off of Him for long, we will pay the price in our peace, joy, and contentment in life.
Holy Father, I praise you for the resurrection ahead for me. Thank you in advance for the day I get to see you face-to-face and join the grand celebration of heaven. Thank you for the great heroes of faith in Hebrews 11, who are examples of faith that endures despite negative circumstances and hard times. I will keep praising you and believing in your goodness until I see that “Greatest Gift Day”! As I wait, please use me to help others anticipate our great victory and overwhelming joy. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
