Devotion 12/23, Shout to the Lord!
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14
Make no mistake about it, we are in a spiritual war each day. The devil can make himself and his ideas for our life look very appealing. Satan is just waiting for us to get our focus off of Christ and onto this world. This brings to mind a couple of verses from Ephesians:
Ephesians 6:11-13
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
We must always keep in mind that satan and his demons, which are fallen angels, are present and powerful in this world.
Lord, please give me the ability to discern truth and resist the deception of Satan and those he uses to teach us false things and lead us astray. Please empower me with your Spirit and give me your wisdom to discern what is true, right, and holy as I seek to live victoriously for you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
