Devotion 1/12, The Sabbath in His Holy House

It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High.    Psalm 92:1
As we reflect on what it means to be Jesus’ witnesses wherever we go, it can be tempting to think that this work is on our shoulders. If we don’t do it, who will? So the gift of Sabbath helps us remember that ultimately this is God’s work, not ours.
Psalm 92, “You make me glad by your deeds, Lord; I sing for joy at what your hands have done. How great are your works, Lord, how profound your thoughts!” What a relief it is to know that this world sits firmly in God’s capable, good hands. He has not stopped working; rather, he has prepared good works for us to do in his kingdom (Ephesians 2:10).
The Sabbath gives us an opportunity to join with brothers and sisters, in His house, to praise and honor the One who has already done it all for us. We have a Savior who walks with us on mission, wherever God has called us! Hallelujah!
God, I join with the psalmist in giving thanks to you and singing your praises! Thank you for saving me and calling me to be a part of your work. Let me be reminded that on the Sabbath I should be with my “family of faith”, in Your house, lifting you up, glorifying and giving praise to you, and learning from Your Word your plan for Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
