9/14, Teach Me Lord

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. Psalm 143:10

When I feel shakey, disoriented, confused or have stumbled, I try and gather myself. I search for stability. That stability, whether it's solid ground or focus, it's like a rock or solid foundation. It's the same in my spiritual life. I seek His level ground through His Holy Spirit.

A key part of loving God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength is submitting fully to Him to teach us His will. As we open ourselves to the Father in this way, the Holy Spirit puts us on God's level ground! We want the Spirit to be at work in us to make us like Jesus. For this to happen, we must open our hearts to the will of God. I can't imagine greater words God wants to hear than "I love you, teach me to do your will."

God is in control. Because or Lord gave us free will, we can choose Him or to go the way of mankind. I choose my Lord, my Savior and Redeemer. I choose His will be done. I choose His level ground.

Holy Father, I confess that I struggle at times with my own selfish and evil desires that lead me astray. Please forgive me when my heart is cold and my ears are deaf to your will. Please, take control of my life today and may the Spirit lead me on your level ground. Through Jesus my Lord, and in his name, I ask you to assert your will as God in my life today and all of my tomorrows. In Christ's name I pray. Amen.

I pray for His will be done, in my life and in His church's life. No more and no less. Amen!

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
