Devotion 6/2, Blessed Be My Family Of Faith

Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.
Matthew 12:50
When Jesus’ family tried to get a message to him as crowds gathered around him, he saw an opportunity for a teaching moment and said, “Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
Jesus was helping his followers to describe a new kind of family, a community bound by something more powerful than the blood in our veins. This is not a rejection of the biological family. It’s an invitation to a bigger, richer family—the family of God, with whom we live in the kingdom of God.
Father, thank you for the gift of our broader family in Christ. Our faith family prays together, we pray for each other, we pray over each other. I give thanks to You, oh Lord, for the gift of my family of faith. May we keep growing together in faith, grace and for Your Kingdom, we ask that thy will be done. Amen.

About Mike & Marcia

I started this journey trying to help someone that had reached out during some troubled times they were dealing with personally.
Turns out in the process I had to deal with my own anger and disappointment with the situation. I prayed for guidance which lead me to giving it up to Christ. It helped me help them writing a daily devotional and in the process I realized my own devotions were lacking. It's now my daily routine. I pray if nothing else it helps to focus on our God of grace if only for a moment for everyone that read them.
I do take requests and any comments.
