Devotion 6/7, He Will
I will show the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, the name you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Sovereign Lord, when I show myself holy through you before their eyes.
Ezekiel 36:23
The way we live as God’s children before this world is very important to Him. Many people will never even pick up a Bible to read what their Creator is about. They will never know how much He loves them and how He sent Jesus Christ to this world to die for them unless we tell them and live out our faith by example.
This is a huge responsibility and privilege that we have been given by God. His name is certainly profaned, mocked, and blasphemed in this world. It is our part to live holy lives before these people so that they may know the God we serve is nothing like what they obviously think of Him. If they look at our speech, actions, and attitudes and see little or no difference between us and the rest of the world then their low opinion of God will remain intact. We have the Holy Spirit of God in us and it should show in our day in, day out lives.
1 John 1:26 says, “Whoever claims to live in Him (God) must live as Jesus did.”
Father God I come before You humbly and ask that You help me to be a worthy example of You to those in my life each day. I certainly know my own unfaithfulness to You at times Father. But I also know that You love me and have forgiven all my sins at the cross. Please use me as You see fit to bring glory to You all the days of my life. Amen.
